I didn't know there was a 'chop-top' 97 model. Has BMW published Cd numbers on it? (Gotta be under 0.29!) Just wondering, how did he know it rolled ten times? Is that stored in the OBC? Or was this on 10 seperate occasions? Also, I think he missed a spot. Oh, and you didn't mention it but --- who was he talking to on the phone at the time? And, did he notice if the CD player tends to skip when inverted. (I've heard they do.)

Anyway, I hope your friend has sought and received help. Three months and 3 speeding tickets and one totaled car sounds like someone begging for some attention. Thank God he didn't hurt or kill someone else.

Back to the present, perhaps as a fellow enthusiast, you can talk him into going to driving school so he can gain confidence enough to know what ought NOT to be done on public roads. BMW's safety gave him a second chance, but he's got to take advantage of it.
