Have had my 00 320D for 6 weeks now and driven it 5000 miles.
Avg mph 47. 46 mpg.
Tanin Red Leather
Radial Brilliant line rims
There has been no problems with the car at all so far.
Really not much to write about but thought you might be interested in my opinions on the factory options I got.
(many of these might be standard in your locale - but anyways)
Absolutely outstanding in my opinion. I drive a lot in the dark and even if the regular halogens are very good the xenons are really a noticeable improvment.
Expensive option here and if you only do daylight driving pointless of course but otherwise I would guess all cars will have them or similar in the future.
A bit stupid in the above combo but I would always miss them if I only had the plastic covers in the front.
Itīs nice to have the radio controls in the wheel but I find some improvement could be done to the ergonomics of theses buttons.
The cruise controls are better. Very exact settings possible and almost no fluctuation. Works amazingly well with manual gearbox. (the 320D has very good torque in 5th gear)
Not as quick in getting the comp REALLY COOL as I thought it would be. A bit confusing to set up in auto mode (in combo with the little wheel for "head area cooling") and the three
"manual" options (when would you use them?).
Defroster very efficent. Heating very good.
Heated rear window very quick.
On the whole functionality top class.
Really a better option than I thought (if one is concerned about bad quality air). On the occasions Iīve noticed it engage I would not have thought about switching/unswithching
Indash CD - Standard radio:
The quality of the BMW radio when it comes to integrated design and buttons etc. is impeccable. Sound quality adequate. Speed adjusting volume actually works.
RDS function not as good as my old alpine (it doesnīt switch early enough to local station for correct TP).
Very nice option and not that expensive. Works very well in
the rainy climate we got here. Really a joy in the constant on/off drizzle.
Green tinted top of windscreen:
Mostly vanity but it really adds an accent to the jet black/shadowline look.
Electric rear sun blinds:
Ridiculously pricey but quite practical when youīve forgotten the cost. Keeps children happier and cooler in the backseat.
A must in winter climate and very efficient.
This is the most stupid option since I canīt understand why
you would not want it. Should be standard on all models.
Electric rear windows:
Expensive but like the foglights I would always be reminded if I hadnīt got them. Seems unbalanced (and a bit cheap of BMW) to have it only on front windows.
Rear side airbags:
As above. Stupid that you have to make these choices when it comes to safety but this is the same on almost all brands.
Reports of these sideairbags not being good for children discomforting.
Folding rear seats and skisack:
Works very well and really adds versatility to the car.
Upgraded interior lighting:
This is maybe the most joyful add-on (I didnīt exactly knew what it was when I ordered it). You get a whole bunch of extra interior lights (6 extra) and a improvement of the VERY nice fading function of all the lights that looks a bit spectacular at night. Strangely this (not that expensive) option is comboed with the mysterious auto-dimming rear-mirror that also works very well (at night).
This seems to work as expected and have got top grading in
european burglary tests.
Black glossy laquer trim panels:
I find this a lot classier than wood or the alu-trim when combined with red leather.
Since fuel consumption is of great importance to me the accuracy of the obc is essential. Crossmeasuring the readouts has shown it to be very exact.
Donīt know why I ordered these (or why it is a factory option)
The floors already are velour and rubber mats are included.
Have them in a closet.
No DSC, No non-smoking-package (should have been standard).
Iīm happy so far
excuse longiness and bad english
