My VIN# has a "J" followed by a "P" also... (archive)

I just got the VIN# from my dealer ... I was status code 152 "Paint shop started" on Friday. I can't believe my car actually exists !

: For the restraint system, my car's VIN is given as "4" not "3"

: For the factory I'm given the letter "J" not "F" even if though the serial number that follows begins with the letter "P"

: What does this mean?

: the VIN pattern is as follows: WBA BM5 3 4 4 Y J P*****
