Sam L.,

I was in you shoes about 6000 miles ago. New 99' E46 328i or 99' M3. Boy what a decision. I personally think the new E46 body looks awesome, but remember you drive a car from the inside. After test driving both cars I realized the M3 was more my style. The cars drive very differently. The E46 definitely has a larger interior. I donít carry passengers that often, but they fit when I need to. These are the things you need to think about.

You need to look at the larger picture of owning a car for a few years. If you buy the 323 are you going to want more performance in 6-8 months when the newness wears off?

I can honestly say I like my car more now than when I first bought it. After owning an M3 for months, driving it everyday, you really appreciate the wonderful design of the M3. You appreciate how the car feels going down the road. Other cars feel numb by comparison. If you donít really like to drive fast or race (Autocross) and you just want a nice quality car the 323 will better suit you needs.

Do you want an M3 for performance or prestige? If you picked the former then you may want to consider the 328ci. But that is almost as much as a new M3. Right there is one of the reasons I picked the M3.

Hope this helps.

: I am still debating....used m3 vs. new 323ci. m3 would be around $28k and 323ci would be around 32k. Comments? Arguments? Does the 323ci have enough power??
