The dealers don't want them thrown in. This is a nice little side profit for them.
I'm not sure if they still do this, but for a long time AC was a dealer installed option on Hondas. This was done for the same reason.
: I absolutely love my new 323Ci and think its a LOT of car for the money but there are a couple of things that I think should be standard in the car:
: 1. BMW oem floormats....I know, I know...most people negotiate to get them "thrown in". But should you have to negotiate for floor mats in a car of this cost.? Me thinks not.
: 2. Homelink system (garage door opener built in): Only about $150 dollars to purchase but even lower budget american autos include them as standard equipment anymore.
: And actually the BMW one that I bought is not very good. The signal range is weak and you cant use it once you turn off the engine in your garage.
: These are minor details, to be sure, but it seems to me that a car of this caliber should have these included.
