Hot-wiring supposedly will not work. However, it cannot prevent car from being towed. The alarm is just a deterence (sp?).

: My 1999 328i has what's called the "electronic immobilization system", which the owner's manual says "makes it impossible to start the engine using any means other than the special keys furnished with the vehicle." Does this mean that adding a car alarm would basically be to protect the contents of the vehicle, rather that actual theft of the car? In other words, can someone still steal the car by "hot-wiring" or other means? Thanks
