Let's realise that even though the folks on this board only represent a small population of the total BMW customers on the road their experience is representative of the whole population. I don't think people come here only to complain...I think from my experience BMW is slow to fix problems and I would expect followups with with customers when a difinative fix comes available. Case in point.... I have a 528 that has the drivers seat freez problem.. I had the car to the dealer many times over a year trying to get it fixed. When I called BMW NA the last time they said they were confident they had a fix for the problem.. BUTT they never sent me a notice that they had a fix despite the fact that I had the car to the dealer four times before! I've had a number of other problems TOO...
The "5" is a great car however...and I had four Benzes before this!
