My friend new A6 went to the service dept 4-5 times after he has the car for 3 months (rattles, failed electrical parts). He recently traded it in for the Y2K A6 and it hits the service dept after the weekend for engine check light problem. It stays there for 4 days. His new TT has 2K miles on it and its A/C unit failed.

Cars are made of parts which are made by people which are not perfect. Parts will suffer mechanical/electrical defects just as some of the human suffered from gene defects. Enough said.

On the other hand, my Oct '98 production 328i is running well after 16600 miles.
