2-3 hundred years back, the Royal Navy discovered that a regular ration of lime (the fruit not the mineral) warded off scurvy among its crew. Hence British sailors and by extension all Brits were called "Limeys". I'm not kidding.

Now how many of you expected to learn about this in a BMW msg board?
