you should take care of it in the sense that if you don't, the exposed edges can crack and peel further back. so instead, of a small scratch, it can become a big one. try some touch up paint to seal the scratch in the meantime. however, a scratch on plastic/rubber is not as harmful as if it was on metal (possibly can rust).

: I did something really stupid the other day. I backed into another car's bumper.. and I made a scratch about 1cm long. I took a look at it and it was black where the paint came off. I was wondering if I need to take care of it right away.
