: The 3-series E46 is available as 318i 320i 328i and 330d in Europe where the car is already avialble for ordering. I have personaly seen both 318i and 328i as Sportwagon/Touring at a BMW dealership. I got the brochure and a CD-rom for the new E46 sportwagon. Check out to see for yourself. The Sportwagon/Touring is not currently made in 323i spec. The US might get a 323i Sportwagon later when the car reaches the US but that hardly makes any sense....why would BMW make a 323i Sportwagon which isnīt even currently available just to sell it in the US while they already sell a 328i Sportwagon in Europe.

What you said is correct for Europe, but not the US. This is official BMW press release. Remeber we don't get the 318 or 320 or 330d in the US, so it's not unprecedented for BMW to offer a car in one market and not another. 2000 is the first year that the US gets the wagon despite the fact that Europe has had a 3 wagon since the 1988 E30. Also, BMW did have 2 different motors for the E36 M3. There is a long history of differences between US and European models from BMW.
