That's when I notice it the most as well, entering my garage with the foot lightly on the brake padel at night. I think the cold weather probably has something to do with it.

No, my mirror does not tilt since mine is a 8/99 production. :( 9/99 gets it.

: I have noticed it as well on my 2000 328CI, however it's not annoyingly loud and barely audible, usually when entering the garage at night and breaking gently is when I notice it.
: Hey let me ask you, does your passenger mirror automatically lower when you parallel park and then return to original position when returning to drive? I heard this was now standard in the coupes manufactured after 9/99 ??? Thanks
