Ever since my 2000 328i was new I've noticed a very slight but definite shudder that is most pronounced about mid-point in the travel of the clutch but only while the clutch pedal is in its upward motion and only at around 1700-2000 RPM. This occurs when the car is in gear and moving or when the car is stationary in neutral. I went down to the BMW center and they agreed that it was there. I went out to the lot with one of their techs and and compared my car with 2 other 2000 328's and they had exactly the same feel and my friend's 99 528i has the same shudder as well so I guess it's "normal" but certainly is not in keeping with the smoothness and quality feel of the rest of the car. Since the vibration does not occur continuously with light pedal pressure, I doubt it's the release bearing or the pressure plate and it does not occur at other RPM's. The clutch engagement, release and gear changing are otherwise just fine. Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing it? The BMW tech I spoke with said it felt like springs (in the flywheel?) being compressed and if enough owners complained BMW might come up with a fix. Thanks in advance.
