: According to the brochure I picked up today, the stats are as follows:

: Manual: 6.6
: Auto: 7.2

real world is about 6.0 secs for the manual!

: 323Ci (in case you wondered)
: Manual: 7.1
: Auto: 8.2

Real world is about 6.5 secs for the manual!

The 2001 m3 with 340-350HP should be in the mid to upper 4 sec range........

6.5 secs is pretty good for the 323ci, i wonder what the E46 would be like with a 6 speed manual?
Is 5k more worth it for the 328ci for just .5 secs faster speed?

The 323 and 328 have to be underrated in HP. I know the manuals have awesome gearing, but i be you a 323ci is putting out about 170HP at the rear wheels not the flywheel which is 204HP. Look at the weight of the cars, it is over 3000 pounds!!! The 328CI is probably putting out 193 at the Rear wheels and 232 HP at the crank.

All i got to say is the 2001 M3 is going to fly, and they are testing out the 400HP 5.0 liter inline 8 in the m3 also for the 2002 model year!!!
