: a lucent technology phone that i had lying around... since i no longer had the system isntalled, the phone was useless. However, if i was to purchase one, i would consider a 20x4 LED backlit unit. There are many retailer for these things, one to check out is www.digisys.net/timeline . Also www.eio.com has LCD's for sale. Make sure that it is HDD44780 compatible, or u will not be able to use it with ur parallel port (there are others that work from Serial port aswell).
: The audio is inserted into the car by a relay that connects to the car's amp, the headunit and my mp3 machine. Switching this relay changes the source of the audio from the head unit to the mp3 player. Quite simple i might add, I had it done at a car audio shop for a nominal charge. The setup is quite "stock" looking, if i take the mp3 system out, its hard to see any modifications to anything.

: : Two other questions.. 1) Where did you get the parallel LCD? and 2) Did you connect it diretly into the radio or is it RF?
