I've found that some new cars (not many) burn oil for their entire lives, yet others never burn oil. For example, my two sisters bought identical Toyota Tercels in 1989, and one burned oil all its life, yet the other sister's car never burned any oil in between changes. Both cars went well over 200k with no major engine problems, but I had to constantly tell the one sister to keep her oil checked, which she did not do (I once chnaged her oil and the thing had about a quart of oil left in it). I would not be happy with one burning oil off the get-go. Are you sure that it is not leaking oil? I have read a few posts of someone with a car that leaked oil.

: At 4k I just added my first quart of oil. Seems reasonable to me, but wondered what other peoples experience has been.
