I've seen lots of people say, "Gee, I know that the dealer is going to make this secret 2.2% profit, and I'm going to make them give it to me in a discount." It doesn't work. The holdback is already figured in to the profit the dealer will accept. (As in, they might accept 1,500 over invoice, but they also know there is another 2.2% in the deal. So, after making a deal of 1,500 over, you can't then say, Oh, by the way, the holdback will be coming to me and not you.
