: : I got out of my car today and what appears to be the rear fog light (left/driver's side only) was on. This is a mod I wanted to do at some point in the future, but tonight it came on with none of my doing. Has this ever happened to anyone? How long before it goes off? How do I turn it off?

: This is a function of German Autos. Basically I am thinking you left your turn signal indicating to turn right, if you had looked at the front of the car, you can see that the drivers low beam is on.
: This is useful if you live on a dark road, and want to indicate to other road users that you are parked on the side of the road.

: They see the light.

: Test it and see if this is the case.

For fun, I went out to the garage and without the key in the ignition, put the turn indicator in the left turn position ('00 328i). Sure enough, the left front and rear indicators came on. I've seen this on parked cars in the past (mostly MBZ's) and always thought it had something to do with the alarm. I guess it would be useful if, like the other post said, you are parked on a dark road. Although, I did not notice the driver low beam coming on.

You learn something new every day ;-)
