My insurance rates went from $700 to $800 per year. The rates didn't increase that much partly because of all the air bags and head protection the car offers. Of course, I also haven't had any tickets and I'm 50. I'm actually paying less for my 2000 328i than I was with my 95 325i ($1000/year). I had the same problem with the steering wheel...not enough travel. When I adjusted the wheel to my liking, it blocks some of the instruments. Of course the 95 325i and 97 M3 never even had a tilt wheel. $40000 and no tilt!
