I've spoken to two high end installers from two separate shops, and they both assure me that the 5.25" would fit.

Also, since the speakers are made by a/d/s, a company with a fixation for BMW's (the speakers I'm purchasing are from the 3 series, and are called 335is), I have to believe the installers that the 5.25" speakers from this manufacturer will fit. Sorry to hear about your system. One installer said that the speaker well is 6", not 6.5", so you have to cut it to fit in a 6.5" speaker.

I'll find out for sure middle of this week when I get everything installed.

: all signals crossed over in the amp, so AT THE LEAST you gotta buy separates. suddenly expense is much higher, AND you gotta find a fit!

: I saw a cheap coaxial speaker in the crutchfield catalog that looked like it might fit (3 holes) but never tried it.

: Doing anything (under $5000) to the E46 is a fool's errand, imo.

: find something else to do with your money.
