: : Don't waste your time and money replacing the factory amp if you are going to keep the factory speakers. They are horrible. (Even the HKs are cheap, low quality crap.)
: : The speakers are the weekest link, followed by the amp, then head unit. Replace the speakers and amp together if possible, because the factory midbass drivers are 2-ohm units, and installing after-market speakers and keeping the factory amp will mean the factory amp will deliver even less power than it does now, due to the fact that most after-market speakers are 4-ohm.
: : Good luck. You can email me with further questions if you'd like, I'd be glad to help. I just completed a complete audio system transplant in my 328i.

: : : I am getting my 323i sport/nav in 9 days. I plan to install the cd changer in the trunk myself (thanks to those who posted such good install pics). I see that the standard sound system amp is right below the nav unit in the trunk. It would be easy to replace the amp at the same time if a different amp 1.Installed with no hassle. and 2.Made a significant difference in the sound quality.(I listen to classical mostly). Anyone have any advice for me?
