: Once again I am hearing rumors from multiple sources that Ford is looking to acquire BMW. One source is a senior exec at Ford Credit. What does everyone think about this?

Jaguar is presumably the example of what would happen. Jag quality is up, and Lincoln gets a real platform for their little Lincoln. We would presumably see 7 Series technology in the Lincoln, and Ford light switches in the BMW. The difference in the analogy is that Jag was a backward company desperately in need of a world class player to bring them into the 20th Century. BMW is a 21st Century player, and I do not see what Ford has to offer them. I have owned a 66 Sunbeam Tiger (English Sports Car, Designed by Carrol Shelby and powered by a Ford V8), a Mustang GT and a Lincoln Mk VII LSC; so I do not think I am biased against Ford. Still it seems hard to see what Ford has to offer. I would not be in favor of the merger.
