During the drive, the dealer said that the 4500 rpm limit during break-in is, in her words, "bullshit". I was a little surprised that she said that, but she also said that they were given 2 328i's to drive around- one they had to keep low rpm's, and the other one they had to drive hard. After 5000 miles, the one that was driven lightly was slow and unresponsive compared to the hard driven one, which drove like a demon. She did say to vary the rpm's alot, but not to worry about going over 4500 rpm.
