Great Idea! Okay, here's one true story. (archive)

I was waiting for the light to turn green in my stock no frills 323i when alongside me pulls this red Viper, with full mods (Honest, my last car was a Viper and this one sounded different, meaner).

To cut to the chase, I blipped my throttle and the other dude blipped his and we knew the race was on. Well, when the light turned, I fell behind a car's length after about 10 feet even though I really stomped on the engine like I've never stomped before. And then the strangest thing, (honest, I'm not making this up) I think the violence (honest, no other way to describe it) of my stomping on the gas pedal must have somehow put so much strain on my camshafts causing the lobes to deform and actually morph into a more radical profile! Luckily, the double VANOS was smart enough to compensate for this change and so it didn't screw up the engine at all. Well, with that spontaneous mod on my 2.5 liter, it was just enough to propel me past the poor guy in the Viper, who's still probably wondering what hit him.

Unfortunately, when the engine cools down, the camshafts revert to their original profile so it's really hard to prove what I just told you. But if you were there, you'd believe me. This really happened. Honest, I'm not kidding.

: I seen this kind of street-races-result-postings on all of the other board(acura, supra, vette), why don't you guys do it on this board. Write what happen when you car race with other sport cars on the street, the more detail the better, no matter it you win or lose, no BS. It not about how fast your Bimmer is compare to that TL, it's about guys who are not scare of fear.

: I notice that their are some posers on this board, they will say that their BMW is too luxurious to race, or how street racing are stupid, blah blah blah. But their opinions are lame, BMW are driver cars.

: And me, I do race on the street, not too much that it's life risky, but at night on a quiet street, why not?

: Don't race with a passenger, my girl friends actually like it, but if I have others girls, I usually drop them of at the near by MacDonald and chase after that Mustang.

: Remember, to race: 50% driver - 50% car
: to win: 90% driver - 10% car
