I had a similar situation, when I switched from my SAAB 900 to the E46.
You can purhase a Thule 753 model, which will mount directly to the rof of the E-46. Your Yakima accessories will fit if you buy the Thule Round bar to Square bar converter, $5 for 4 mounting brackets. The only thing that may not fit is your bike mount if you have the Yakima Steelhead. Otherwise everything fits well, I will post a pic tomorrow- once I scan it.
