You no longer need to buy the complete light casing. I think it was Bavarian Autosport that listed the part, including BMW part number, for the lenses. They were somewhere in the $150 range, I think. That's still overpriced for what they are, but lots better than the whole thing. If it wasn't Bav Auto, then it was BMP Design (bmpd.com), but I think it was the former.
