Doggie, I had a MD changer in my last vehicle and I thought it was fantastic. It's quite small and offers 10 sec. shock protection (memory buffer). It's ideal for car use. The discs are much smaller and hold as much music as a CD (74min). Also, an advantage of making your own MD's is if something happens to a MD disc (lost, stolen or whatever else) you still have the "master" at home.

As far as sound quality goes, unless you have "golden ears" you would be hard pressed to hear the difference between CD or MD under ideal conditions, let alone the listening environment of a car (road noise and all). The first few generations of MD did not sound so well, but modern day MD technology is just great. Remember, MD was not meant to replace CD. It was meant to replace cassette tapes, and it is far superior to that. The track labeling and editing abilities alone are worth the extra cost over cassettes.

I haven't yet installed the MD changer in my Ci yet, but I plan to do it soon.
