: Just bought a "new" 2000 323Ci Convertible off the showroom floor at a dealer in suburban Chicago. It had 11.4 miles logged on the odometer. When questioned, the dealer told me that's not unusual given movement to trucks, from trucks to ships, from ships to port distribution area then onto trucks etc.

: So, any thoughts on this?

11 miles is close to average. Many factors can effect it though. Don't forget each car goes on the dyno at the VPC --- which in the case of east coast cars coming through the Port of Jersey --- is a short drive down a private BMW-owned road from the actually lot that that Wallenius drops the cars off into.

And if the Feds are checking to make sure that certain advertised figures are true, a car can stay on the dyno for 50 or more miles.

Anything less than 8 miles is exceptional.
