I live in Seattle and am going to be moving to Pittsburgh, PA in a few months. I have been told that shipping a car Seattle-Pittsburgh is in the range $1500-$2000, but once I investigated shipping by boat from the west coast to Hawaii and it was only $500. I was wondering if it were cheaper to maybe ship the car by boat from Seattle to Philadelphia or New York then just go pick up the car and drive to Pgh.

If shipping to the Northeast can be done for less than $1000 it seems better to do that than to drive it, since depreciation due to mileage is probably $400 plus gas and other expenses plus a week of one's time.

It's just a thought at this point, but I was wondering if anyone had had experience with this.

Thanks,

Mofongo
