: Hi,

: I have a 323Ci and I've heard that you can actually increase the hp in your car via good spark plugs? Is this true? If so, what is possibily the best spark plugs that you can get for the 323Ci? Thank you for your help. I am new to cars and trying to learn as much as I can from this board!

A lot of snake oil claims about spark plugs.
Deviation from the OEM plugs almost always provide lower performance. Apart from supplying a spark, another function of the plugs is the cooling effect that it provides. If you use the specified fuel and the car runs normally, the OEM plug is designed to balance the thermal effect of the engine combustion. In other words you get less fouling and optimum fuel/air ignition. All this is not true of course if you modify your car with turbos or super charging etc, then the thermal footprint changes and then performance shops change to a hotter or cooler plug depending on the modification.
