Have you been using your A/C? It is possible that either the condensate drain is clogged or possibly not properly routed through the firewall.

: I've been noticing a mildewy smell in my 323i and checked the driver-side floor mat and discovered that was was wet. We had not had any huge storms recently and after I let it out to dry and placed it back into the car, I checked it out later and it was wet again! Anyone heard of this problem before?
