therefore, my entire seat was pulled apart, and they showed me the faulty version that they replaced. the entire piece clearly consisted of stitched pieces of leather. there was NOT leatherette or any other vinyl present.
if you listen to other car maker's ads, you will usually hear references to "leather seating surfaces", which is a dead-giveaway to what you're describing. the bmw monroney sticker says "leather upholstery" which seems to me to indicate the real deal... besides, i've seen the other side of the seat.
maybe yours was different.
