00 328Ci Comfirmation Mess. Locked?? Dealer Name? (archive)

Help, I just picked up a fully loaded 2000 328Ci on Monday. Love the car but it doesn't beep or flash the lights when the door is locked with the key or remote. Dealer said I need a factory alarm but the owners manuel says no. Anyones 328 beep without the alarm. Anyone who could send back the name and town/state the dealer was in that did the set up would be much appreciated.
