I've owned American muscle and pony cars before going Germin. I miss the power as the 328 is minivan class wimpy. My Sienna minivan can 20-60 nearly as fast. (err...my wifes Sienna minivan..) Ok on paper it's slow but I have to use about the same judgement when merging when driving either the MV or 328. Gearing on the MV and a willing more powerfull v6 can really get that station wagon on steroids moving.

The 328 can 7ish second 0-60 only if everything is done perfectly with ideal conditions. Get caught snoozing at the line and you can't pass a minivan, truck, or SUV to get a clear shot at an on ramp without causing road rage. That is the 328 is a little faster but the manuver will be seen as cutting off the other vehicle because there won't be enough distance between the two.

My lease is up in two years. Starting perf mods with the 3 liter should be a better package. Maybe minor mods on the 3 liter will be enough. Though...one can never can enough HP. Especially on Houston's straight for miles 6 lane highways.

Only alternative is a blower on the 328. Nothing else 'easy' to install will add enough acceleration.

IMHO.

: I know it's all what one is used to. To me, this is a great, but smallish, engine. Also, I suspect the car is heavier than the E36. My 540i can, of course, move in a hurry and, in comparison, the 328i seems a bit slow off the mark. But I want the 328 as it is smaller and should handle better. Any others craving a bit more power? Any real alternatives - does the Dinan software provide enough or would one need a supercharger?
