: Since I drive mostly long distance and quite often goes through bug storms splattering all over the cooling system, I put a mesh screen over it.

: Here's how :
: Go to a hardware store and buy a roll of replacement screen door sheet. Get the nylon type which is easier to work with. Then take the air box out, then the air scope intake by pulling the plastic pins out. Cut the mesh screen to size and just slip it under the air scoop.
: Refer to the photopoint picture.

: I've been using it for 6 months now and its great. Keeping all the bugs away from the radiator and when it gets clogged, all I have to do is dismantle the air scoop and slide the screen out to clean it. BTW, my is a Y2K 323 without the fan in front of the radiator. But I think it will work for those with the fan also, because the screen slips behind the cross brace where the fan bolts on.
