Dealers mark-up the loans from the bank when you finance through their finance department (only a portion of a point or so).

They make money (in addition to the vehicle mark-up) when you finance the car.

When you pay cash, they only make profit on the margin. In some cases, they may give you a better deal when financing knowing they will make it up on the back end.
