My '86 BMW has a "1,2,3" function on its automatic, the only difference between that and Steptronic is that I move the lever through the gears, and you can shift yours slightly differently.
BOTTOM LINE: If it has a slushy, fluid filled TORQUE CONVERTER, its an automatic. Period.
: aint no stock 323i manual gunna stay near a stock 328i step.
: we should get together sometime, and you can do some laps in my car, to see what it's all about.
: seriously, the step trans rocks! i've driven manual trans all my life, and owned a manual trans E46 before my current E46 step.. i promise you this car is faster.
: you're a princeton student, so i know you're a smart dude. unless you've driven a step E46, you don't know what you're missing. please don't kid yourself by simply calling it an "automatic".
