In Reply to: BMW alarm question ?? posted by JACOB NJ on May 14, 2000 at 22:12:49:

The fuse is a spare, just keep it in case any of the current ones blows out. The car will not recognize the alarm at all w/o the activation. Essentially, you would have a bunch of extra parts on your car that don't do anything. So you'll have to pay the forty or so bucks to get it activated.

: hi i have jsut installed the alarm systemwhich must of been the fastest talarm install in my lifetime and i do it for a living. so i strongly suggest for everyone to do this themselves doesnt take that much know how a r mechanical skill. but my question is , the fuse that comes with the kit doesnt seem to have an empty location ., every fuse labeled in reference to any sort of anti theft is already pluged. and also will the alarm make any type of chirp or parking flash or clown nose blink even if its not programed by bmw or will the car not even recognize it untill the dealer does?
