You need reservations for a factory tour. Call BMW/NA and they will send or fax you a form. I went last year to the Munich factory, and it was great. You see everything from the large rolls of sheet metal being stamped into body parts, the robots welding, the final assembly, and testing area. Time well spent.
Last year English speaking tours were on Mondays only, you will find out when you call.

: I'm going to be doing a driving tour of Bavaria later in the year (for my honeymoon--I have a very understanding/long-suffering fiancee), and am looking forward to stopping at the museum in Munich. I was also wondering whether there is a tour offered at Munich, Dingolfling, or Regensburg. Both Porsche and Mercedes offer tours, but (for obvious reasons) I'd rather see some BMWs being built.
