: No that is a different David, I guess I lucked out though he seems like a good bimmer.org guy. It would suck if an asshole was using the same same as me and posting rude things on here. What you described is exactly what I took out, see it wasn't too bad. You may want to save the pieces, I think it will go back in there, if you are leasing and decide to put it back before selling the car. You may get a slight rattle now like the HK people get. They have posted a sock fix on here before for that problem. I think they stuff a sock up in the deck and it keep the deck from rattling. It is slight and depends on your listening habbits, plus it may not even be there at all.

The only two identical cutouts that I could find were a little bit more to the rear of the car but not quite the size of a CD. It did have a layer of thin rubber and than a layer of insulation (about 1/2 inch think. All of these layers were pre-cut so they were easy to remove. I hope these were the right cutouts! I will give it a listen tomorrow. Thank you very much for your help! BTW are you the same David that just drove CL? I replied to your post but I was also wondering how did the radio sound? I never really took the time to listen to it because I was trying to get comfortable. Thanks again!

: : : : : Ok, when you look inside the trunk on the top you see the two speakers in the corners like you said. Closer to the middle there are two round pieces, they are painted the same color as your car, but you can see that there round and there is a crack around it. Those can be punched out. I have an upgraded system and noticed a little more bass from doing this. I found it by mistake really, I was punching them out for a sub install next week but noticed what I thought was more bass. Look again in trunk and post back, I'll help you in anyway I can.

: : : : I read in an earlier post that someone punched some holes out of the rear deck and thought they had better bass response with the stock (non-HK) radio. Where are these holes? Will you see this from the outside of the car? I looked from the inside of the trunk at the rear deck and I do not see anything. In each far corner of the trunk/rear deck there is a speaker right? There seems to be some kind of insulation between these speakers and the inside of the trunk. What components do I not have due to the lack of the HK? Any clarification on this subject would greatly be appreciated. Thank You?
