Because the knob is shorter than stock, it sits lower on the shaft and makes the overall length of the shifter shorter by a half inch to an inch depending on where you attach it (set screws and a plastic sleeve affix it to the shaft). This install can leave a gap between the boot and the bottom of the knob; I turned the boot inside out after I had installed the knob and used a zip tie to scrunch the boot up against the bottom of the knob. It fits fine and looks factory. The total install took about 10 minutes and looks excellent.

It's interesting you ask about the armrest. Because the overall length of the shifter is so much shorter, the knob no longer "falls to hand" like the stock one did. I found this a little bit uncomfortable at first, and even considered removing the armrest. I've gotten used to it now and it doesn't bother me as much. The tradeoff is that this install acts sort of like a "poor-man's short shifter kit", as the travel of the shifter is shorter (feels a little crisper as well).

Kris L. on this board has a similar knob and posted pics of his install a couple of days ago. (Kris?)
