323 Sport Wagon: Sport Package? (archive)

I have a 323i Sport Wagon on order. Hey, I would rather drive a sports car too, but my dogs AND husband won't fit in one! So, I opted for the wagon, as the best of both possible
worlds.

What I would like to know from you other BMW drivers is: Is
the optional Sports Package worth the extra $$$?

This car comes standard with 16" alloy wheels and Michelin
Energy tires (which I like). The sport package comes with
17" wheels, larger tires, a "sport steering wheel" with
cruise control (which I must have), and sport seats.

I just can't decide if it's worth the extra money. I can still change my order if I hurry. What do people think? I
love to drive and I love to corner, which is why I bought a
BMW with an manual transmission. Should I splurge any get
the sport package too? Or just get the cruise control?

PS I opted for the black interior after reading the glare
