: : My car supposedly was put on a boat on June 19, scheduled to arrive in So.Cal on July 17. Is there any way to check the progress of the boat...i.e. whether it is on time or not?
: : Thanks for your help.
: CBD, (and anyone else who wants to track their ship,) here's how to do it:
: (1) Go to Wallenius' website at www.wlna.com
: (2) Click on 'Vessel Schedules'
: (3) On the top form, select 'Europe' for the loading zone, and 'North America' for discharge zone.
: (4) Next, select an appropriate date. (Note: The system prompts with the current date, but you need to set it back to at least a day before your ship sailed.) Your BMW rep can tell you what your scheduled departure date was by reading his 'availability report'. Once you have an appropriate date specified, select 'GO'.
: (5) On the next screen, you will need to specify the 'Load' port and the 'Discharge' port. For the load port, always use 'Bremerhaven'. For the discharge port, it depends upon what region of the U.S. you are in, but in your case CBD, choose 'Port Hueneme'.
: (6) Once again verify that an appropriate date is specified, and select 'GO'.
: (7) You will then be presented with a list of vessels scheduled for your route. One of those vessels will have a 'sail date' that is identical to the 'Est Depart Date' your BMW rep gave you. That's Your Ship!
: (8) Your ship will show an expected arrival date at your port.
: (9) Then, revisit the site from time to time, putting in all of the specifics, and if the ship is delayed for weather or other reasons --- or gets ahead of schedule --- the arrival date will be changed.
: (10) That's it. The only people who will have more 'up-to-the-minute' info would be (of course), Wallenius themselves, the VPC Managers where your car will be prepped (for work scheduling), and BMWNA (for financial and inventory reasons.)
: That's it. Follow those guidelines, and you will know more than 80% of the reps who sell the cars.
: Good luck,
