Easy. Make more than twice the amount of $$$ the car of your dreams costs. It also helps to (1) be young (2) have a wife/significant other pulling in > $30k (3) have no kids (4) live in a low COL (Cost Of Living) town

I still stand by the 50% of annual compensation rule (this subject has been discussed many times here and on other boards) - you can spend half of your salary before tax on a primary driver if you're in a DINK situation (Dual Income No Kids). Considering you can get into the 323 for $30k, then you've just got to be making $60k. Not too tough...
