I have a Raleigh M55 that is a good everyday type mountain bike. I think I paid about $400 for the bike. You can check their bikes out at www.raleigh.com


Since most of you seem to be renaissance people, I figured there must be a few bikers in here (mountain biking). I don't want anything spectacular, just something that's comfortable, clean ride, and less than $1k. I'm not too frequent a rider, so I can't quite rationalize paying too much for a bike.

Any opinions on brands? I'm clueless... thanks.
