In Reply to: How do you afford a BMW? posted by Ali on July 30, 2000 at 22:09:31:

My story...I knew I wanted a new car - didn't want a buy a used again (I had never bought a NEW car). I just landed a good job so it was time to buy. I wasn't seriously looking at a BMW at all - I thought they were too expensive too. I had always drove Toyota's before (and VERY satisfied with them - not too luxurious, but wonderful cars). I can't stand driving a car that everyone else has...and most American cars are total crap in terms of reliability. So, knowing this, I narrowed my list down to Audi A4, Infiniti G20, VW Jetta GLX and Passat, Volvo S40, and Toyota Solara. They were all nice cars in the $20Ks and we're a dime a dozen like the Honda Accord. Then I started to realize that just about ANY car or SUV with good options is going to cost mid to upper $20Ks at least. I took a trip to a BMW dealer and stumbled across a Metallic Orient Blue 323i with the Special Value Package. For $28K, I bought my bimmer at just about $3K more than what I wanted to spend. I do not regret my decision one bit, and am so thankful to have stumbled across this deal.

It is possible to get a nice BMW in the lower $30Ks. About the same price as most SUVs which don't hold their value one bit compared to a bimmer.

Just dont understand how do you guys can afford to buy a brand new BMW? I am trying to get one myself, but I just dont think I'll be able to afford it! Too expensive
