I was looking for a place that sold blue 9006 bulbs to replace my white fogs (which i still cant find dammit!!), so I dropped by this car electronics place near my work...

Unfortunately they didn't have the bulbs, but I noticed an ad for custom radar detector installation in the store.... where I live (ontario, canada), radar/laser detectors are illegal... so I started asking the guy about the consequences for owning one...

He said that they could do a custom install for me (they specialize in a few models, including the valentine one), and completely hide the detector. He said they would dissassemble the valentine one, and mount the different components in different places, and then re-wire them together. ie, they would mount the front radar detector in the front grill of the car, the rear detector in the rear of the car, and the same for the laser detector part, and the rest of the electronics in the hood. They then run a few wires up your steering column and put the remote display under the steering wheel where u can see it... (near the trunk release button or someplace around there i assume), and mount it in a special clip with a special pull-out wire adapter (the headphone type i think), so if you ever get pulled over you can just quickly pull out the remote display and throw it under your seat (although they would probably not even notice it in the first place), and the detector would never be seen.

Now even if you're not concerned about the being caught part, this seems like a very clean and very effective way to install the valentine one. The guy said that the detectors would be in an optimal position, and would pick up signals even better than they would if they were inside the car...

Anyway this really interested me so I thought I would share. I will definitely get this done to my car very soon.
