I had originally requested the hardtop option, but my dealer talked me out of it, citing the new soft-top is so well made that you'll never need the hardtop. Plus, its $2000 that i can wait and spend during the winter time if necessary. I would wait until the weather gets really bad, then you can always buy the hardtop then. You're probably not going to save any $$$ by getting that option while buying the car, then waiting to buy it later.
