Topaz replaced Biarritz on the '01 5 series. I saw the colors side by side (on a 3 and a 5), and they are fairly close. Topaz is a bit lighter and bluer, and the metallic flecks are finer. My 530i is ordered with Topaz, but I'm a bit worried that it might not translate well on the 5 series.


I am very satisfied with my choice. On balance, I felt orient was too dark - topaz is lighter and "younger" but still looks very sophisticated. Pics on this and other boards do not really do it justice - try to see it in the flesh.

I also considered the 5 series - biaritz blue on the 5 is somewhere between orient and topaz and would have been my first choice on the 5. Is topaz available for the 5?
