I agree with just about everything except the comment about the 330i being "...less confident in the tight corners." Confidence comes with time behind the wheel. In time, you will be able to throw the 330i around like you tossed your E36 M3. I have about 1,400 miles on my 330i, and now I am just starting to throw her (very gently) around corners.

I love the steering. I can feel all the bumps and grooves in the pavement, yet it is light and quick. I get back into my E36 328i, and it feels like I'm driving a truck.

I can still drive my E36 (with 16" wheels) faster into a corner... but this is because I have 42,000 miles behind the wheel. Like a fighter pilot, there is no subsitute for seat time.
